Thanksgiving Sunday!!
We paused for a Sunday and said “Thank you!” to God. A shorter sermon, a time lingering over the Lord’s Supper, and then a time of corporate sharing awakened our hearts to the power of gratitude.

Standing Strong in Stressful Times: Philippians 4:1-9

The Gospel unleashed produces a people who STAND STRONG, STAND TOGETHER, and SUFFER WELL together, empowered by JESUS, THE GOSPEL, and the HOLY SPIRIT to live humbly with one another, united by JESUS and the desire to ADVANCE THE GOSPEL

Our good friend Justin Reynolds takes us through this powerful passage in which Paul inspires us to follow his example of striving toward the goal of the upward call of God—to truly know and reflect Jesus in our lives, living like the citizens of heaven that we are! What a great word for the people of Compass, and anyone else eager to see Jesus become more real in our lives.

The Surpassing Worth of Knowing Jesus: Philippians 3:1-11
I think if Paul himself were to come preach at Compass Church, this might be one of the top candidates of a passage he would share with a church that is trying to simply focus on Jesus, and help people find and follow Jesus! The reason we can have joy and confidence in any circumstance in our lives is because we know Jesus—not just know about Jesus, but experientially and relationally know Him.

Work Out/Shine Out: Philippians 2:12-16
In light of the powerful reality of what Jesus has done for us—as seen in Phil. 2:5-11; we are now encouraged to work out this powerful life Jesus has given us together…to grow in humility with one another, working according to the power God has given us. Then, we are encouraged to shine out in this world, holding forth the liberating Word of life God has given us…and we are encouraged to stand out in one specific way—not complaining! Jump into this passage with us and lets see Jesus continue to transform us to live joyfullly, together, in any circumstance!

Jesus gives us the greatest example of humble sacrifice that empowers His followers to live lives worthy of the Gospel. Unexpected Joy: Philippians 1:12-26
We expect people who are going through good times in their lives to be joyful…but it is truly head turning when someone who is suffering is joyful! Our passage today shows Paul in a tough spot, yet sharing his secret of how he is experiencing great joy!

The book of Philippians teaches us how to find joy and peace even in our darkest and most challenging days. In Philippians 1:1-11 we see that God loves to do big things in unexpected ways…and He’s eager to start a new work in our lives!

Do Life with Jesus
Jesus invites us to live our lives so closely connected to Him that He pours His character and life changing power into us! This is incredible—and this is the core teaching of Compass Church!!

The Expression of Generosity
A clear sign that someone truly knows Jesus is generosity! Following Jesus means we have been bountifully loved and provided for, and then from this bounty we are free to share what Jesus has poured into our lives! May God unleash us to be a generous people who follow a generous Savior!

The Heart of Generosity
The heart of generosity is birthed through the life changing encounter with Jesus—who for our sake became poor, so that we could become rich. May our hearts be transformed as a people and a church through Jesus, and may our generosity point many people to Him!

Resurrection and Life
Description: The foundation of Compass Church rests on the resurrection of Jesus! John 11 shows us a powerful interaction between Jesus and His friends at the grave side of their brother Lazarus—and shows us Jesus is our hope and the one who brings us life even in the face of death.

Teach Us to Pray
One of the greatest gifts Jesus has given His people is the gift of prayer—the ability to talk to our Father in heaven at any time from any place! Prayer is the foundation and life line for Compass Church!

Live in Jesus’ Mission
Jesus gives His followers an amazing invitation—to live for the same purpose that He was sent to live! Jesus’ followers are a sent people—empowered and equipped to bring life to the people around them, just like Jesus did! Wow!

Live in Jesus’ Word
A sign that we are Jesus’ followers is we will abide in His teaching. The words of Jesus are powerful, life changing, and set us free. Compass longs to be a church that studies and practices Jesus teaching
